ATTWOOD, VIC — A fatal crash on Mickleham Road in Melbourne’s northwest has left one teenager dead and two others fighting for their lives, prompting a major investigation by Victoria Police. Authorities say the collision occurred early Saturday morning and involved three vehicles.

According to investigators, a vehicle carrying three occupants was travelling southbound on Mickleham Road in Attwood at approximately 7 a.m. when it reportedly veered into oncoming traffic. The vehicle was then struck by two other vehicles travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported the occupants of the southbound vehicle to hospital. An 18-year-old male passenger from Tullamarine later succumbed to his injuries. The 18-year-old driver and a 17-year-old passenger, both from Greenvale, sustained life-threatening injuries and remain under medical care.

The drivers of the two other vehicles involved in the crash suffered minor injuries and were also taken to hospital for assessment.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Preliminary reports indicate that speed may have been a contributing factor, though investigators continue to examine all possible causes.

The collision caused significant traffic disruptions along Mickleham Road as emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene. Authorities warned motorists to expect delays while evidence was gathered and the roadway was cleared.
